Upcoming Event for High School Students

EIJS is excited to partner with Skyline High School’s Jake Snarr to put on an event specifically for high school students! Hosted at Kool Beanz Cafe on Wednesday, April 24th, from 6pm to 8pm.

See below for information, or check out the Facebook event!

Join us for our first EVER jam session tailored for high school musicians! This first time around, we will kick things off with three Skyline HS Jazz Combos, then open up the rest of the time for a jam session that is open to ANY high school jazz players, as well as their directors.

To all interested in playing during the open jam, please be familiar with these guidelines:
- Come prepared to call up a tune or two (especially horn players)
- Stick to standards, etc from the jazz repertoire (Real Book vol 1, etc)
- Be prepared to improvise
- House instruments available: drum set, bass amplifier, guitar amplifier, digital piano, vibraphone
- Remember that we are all here to learn together and to make connections!

Big thanks to Kool Beanz Cafe for hosting, and the Eastern Idaho Jazz Society for supporting the event!

Any questions should be directed to Jake Snarr, Skyline HS Band Director.
